Asterios, Persona 4 Arena. ♥
They’re Shigenori Soejima’s re-drawings of Kazuma Kaneko’s designs!
I’m sorry, but after the illustrations cock-up in that Otaku USA article, it gets my goat when people get mislead by certain phrasings!
…you’re probably tired of my Kaneko loyalist militancy by now. =_=

Kamuy-Mosir (formerly Kamui) for Teddie/Kuma.
How… gaudy. =/

Whoops, secret’s out.
The “Soejimized” edits proved to be very popular for whatever reason, so I decided to make a few more, this time Nocturne themed. Yuko Takao came out the best if you ask me.

Like Amaterasu, BUT WITH HAIR!
It’s not as bad as a blatant palette swap, but these second-upgrade (!) Shigenori Soejima Personae in the Persona 4 port for Vita seem barely changed, and dare I say a little… unnecessary.

A note, since this is a common point of confusion:
Kazuma Kaneko designs “d(a)emons” (which include gods, spirits, legendary figures, cryptids) and characters for many of ATLUS Japan’s flagship “Megami Tensei” series of games. Many of these demons also get recycled as summonable “Persona” from Persona 3 onward. He is also fully responsible for character and Persona designs in Revelations: Persona and both parts of Persona 2.
Shigenori Soejima (who earned the limelight by illustrating for Stella Deus) drew the in-game character portraits based on KK’s designs in Persona 2. He also did character and character-specific Persona designs (i.e. not based on previous “demons”) for Persona 3 and 4.
KK tends toward the gothic and directly surreal, while SS shows a more palatable, anime-friendly style. Both show an acumen for fashion, generally avoid busy/meaningless ornamentation, tend to show their work in researching the iconography for their designs, and more than occasionally reveal a sense of humour (through visual puns, myth jokes, or authentic references to Japanese pop- and sub-culture).

As far as I can tell, most “dudes” who loved DMC3 actually hated the Kazuma Kaneko Devil Triggers [1] [2] because they didn’t look stereotypically horns-and-wings demonic enough.
